The program

Built around your health, adjusted by your progress.

Modern Lifestyle Medicine is physician-guided, individualized weight-loss treatment. It begins with a full medical evaluation and continues as ongoing care — nutrition and lifestyle counseling, regular follow-up visits, body measurements and progress monitoring, laboratory testing, and prescription medications when they are medically appropriate.

How your care is structured

Treatment is a series of conversations, not a transaction — each visit builds on your labs, your measurements, and how your body is responding.

  1. The evaluation

A thorough first visit: your health history, current medications, past attempts, body measurements, and the lab work that maps your metabolic health. You leave with a plan.

  2. The first follow-up

A few weeks in, Dr. Saad reviews how you are tolerating treatment, what your body is doing, and adjusts — dose, medication, or approach.

  3. Ongoing visits

Regular follow-ups for as long as you are in the program. Treatment keeps adapting to your progress, your labs, and your goals — that is the point of physician-guided care.

What the evaluation looks for

Weight is rarely one problem with one cause. The evaluation looks at three layers, because treating the wrong one wastes your time.

Metabolic

Insulin resistance, prediabetes and diabetes, thyroid function, cholesterol and triglycerides — measured with labs, not guessed at.

Hormonal

Hormonal changes that affect how the body stores weight, evaluated when your history calls for it.

Behavioral

Sleep, stress, appetite patterns, and the practical realities of how you eat and move — addressed with counseling, not judgment.

Prescription medications

Medication is one tool in the plan — prescribed when it is medically appropriate for you, and monitored with follow-up visits and labs. These are the options Dr. Saad works with.

Semaglutide

Wegovy · Ozempic

A once-weekly GLP-1 injection that reduces appetite and improves how the body handles blood sugar. Averaged roughly 15% body-weight loss in the STEP clinical trials.

Tirzepatide

Zepbound · Mounjaro

A once-weekly GLP-1/GIP injection — currently the most effective approved option, with up to about 22% average loss in the SURMOUNT-1 trial.

Phentermine–topiramate

Qsymia

A daily oral combination that reduces appetite. An established option when injections are not the right fit.

Naltrexone–bupropion

Contrave

A daily oral combination that works on appetite and cravings, particularly where eating patterns are the main driver.

Orlistat

Xenical · Alli

An oral medication that reduces the fat your body absorbs from food. Modest effect, useful in the right situation.

Metformin

Generic

Not a weight-loss drug by label, but a workhorse for insulin resistance and prediabetes, with a modest weight benefit for many patients.

Which one is right for you depends on your health history, your labs, your insurance coverage, and how you respond — that is a decision made with Dr. Saad, not from a menu. Doses are adjusted over time, and some patients are treated without medication entirely.

Availability and insurance coverage for these medications change frequently, and questions about compounded versions come up often — Dr. Saad reviews the current options with you honestly at your visit.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality, and should only be obtained from appropriately licensed pharmacies. See our Medical Disclaimer for more.

Laboratory testing, throughout

Labs are drawn at the start to find what is affecting your weight, and repeated during treatment to confirm it is working safely. Which tests are ordered depends on your history.

Paying for the program

There are two ways to work with Dr. Saad, and which one you choose determines how visits are paid for.

As your primary care physician

If Dr. Saad becomes your primary care physician, your visits are typically covered by insurance — weight management is treated as part of your overall care. Call either office and we will verify your plan.

Weight loss care alongside your own PCP

If you keep your current primary care physician and see Dr. Saad for weight loss only, insurance usually does not cover the visit — these are self-pay at $300–$400 per month, confirmed up front before you start. Medications are billed separately through your pharmacy, and coverage for them varies by plan.

The plan starts with the evaluation.

One visit — your history, your labs ordered, and an honest conversation about which of these tools fit you. Visits are currently on Mondays, by appointment.
